Hi,
I have doubts in using interrogative pronouns whom. Can someone kindly
please clarify my doubts?
I want to know whether can I use "whom" in place of "who", without changing
the meaning.
1) Whom shall I give this to? (is this wrong?)
Who shall I give this to? (This is correct)
2) Whom do you believe did this? (is this wrong?)
Who do you believe did this? (This is correct)
3) Whom are you speaking? (Is this wrong?)
Who are you speaking? (Is this wrong?)
4) Whom do you think they are? (Is this wrong?)
Who do you think they are? (This is correct)
5) Whom do you consider in the right? (This is correct)
What do you consider in the right? (Is this wrong?)
6) Whom, do you consider, is right? - (Is this wrong?)
Who, do you consider, is right? - (This is correct)
7) Whom did you speak to? - (Is this wrong?)
who did you speak to? - (This is correct)
8) Whom/who/what is that for?(What is the meaning of these questions?)
9) What did they fight each other for? ( What is the meaning of this
question?)
10) Whom am I speaking to, please? (Is this wrong?)
Who am I speaking to, please? (This is correct.)
Please kindly clear my doubts.
Best Regards
Mariappan
