Jane went home to tell her mother how she had made a mistake at school and asked what she should do about it.
"Well my darling," said her concerned mother as she gave her a hug, "when you go to school tomorrow go to the teacher, apologise and 'make a clean breast of it'. Jane slept well and woke up the next morning feeling equipped to deal with her problem at school. She felt a little embarrassed as she added, "I washed especially for you. See."
