I Speak Dogese<http://emilykroeker.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-speak-dogese.html>
I know dogs don’t understand English. They understand certain words, but not
sentences. They can pick up on what you want them to do by gestures and tone
of voice but it doesn’t stop me from talking to my dog like she understands
me. Sometimes, I swear she understands me.
Whenever I eat an apple, I let the dog lick the core. I’ll hold it for her
and she licks it a few times. I think she likes apples. The other day, I was
finished with my apple and offered it to her. She went to take it all in her
mouth. I took it back and said “No Deeds, you can’t have it all”. I offered
it again and again she went to bite it. I said “No Deeds, you can’t bite it,
you have to lick it, like this,” and I pretended to lick the apple. I
offered it again and this time with no hesitation, she licked the apple. Now
I know she only understood because I showed her what to do but it was still
a neat moment.

So you know yesterday when I got a little queasy around 11am? Well, I
figured it must be because I was hungry. So today around 10am I got a little
queasy again. I said to myself that I guess this is now the signal for
hunger so I grabbed a granola bar from my purse and ate it. I felt a lot
better. Until about 10 min later when I threw it all up. My first time at
work. Only a matter of time I guess. But now I feel so much better. Not
queasy or anything. However, I am a little hungry. I think I’ll wait it out.

So I got home from work with no further problems. I had stopped at the
library after work so by the time I actually got home, I was pretty tired. I
told Mark I was going to lay down for a bit. I sat down with a glass of
chocolate milk and started feeling more and more sleepy. I finally put down
the milk and curled up in the chair. I remember switching the channel from
Simpsons to Jeopardy. I remember hearing the names of the contestants but
not opening my eyes to see them. Then the 6:00 news began. It was a good
sleep.
