PHP Highlighter Problem [f=2:i=10172:t=10172]

PHP Highlighter doesn't recognize the following syntax block:
$var=<<<VAR
"something"="
VAR;

it recognizes  it like the last quote was not closed and treats the rest
of the code as a string. Is there a workaround?
