To get the OpenOffice.org dictionary (at least for US English) to work you
also have to get rid of the /XXX that is at the end of many words. I did a
search using regular expressions for all /\w{n} and replaced it with
nothing. Start high, at least n=12, and then lower the number. If you
don't do this, all of these words will be labeled as misspelled. Then do
as directed above.
I did this for the English dictionary, as the default dictionary labeled
many of my misspellings as "correct".
