If I want to work in Normal mode and just occasionally select column blocks using this combination, it's ok. But if I switch to column mode (when I need to operate columns repeatedly), ANY mouseclick switches me back to normal mode. (In other words, turning one feature on effectively damages another feature. I see absolutely no reason why should a mouseclick change my selection mode AT ALL.) Suggested solution: 1) Make ALT work as a modifier that will cause Column selection in Normal mode and Normal selection in Column mode. 2) Don't change selection mode based on mouse events. 3) Either remove this configuration item (and make it standard behaviour as there is no real need to turn it on/off) or make this configuration item decide what mode will Alt-mouse act in. Column-Normal, Line-Normal would make sense, maybe even Line-Column. That way, users will get what they expect. They will still have the other mode available for single use with Alt key (if they turn this behaviour on), but their selection mode will always remain as they set it. -- PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
