Known problem. You have to replace backwards from the end of the file.
Don't ask me why, but the replacing algorithm currently remembers how
many lines the document has and checks only this amount of lines.

If you have 3 lines, the algorithm will replace all occurences of "x"
with \n in the current line 1, then in the current line 2 and then in the
current line 3 and then stop. It is not aware that the linecount changed.
If you go backwards, It will replace all occurences of "x" with \n
first in the line 3 (and the \ns will add lines 4, 5 etc), then in line 2
and then in line 1.
