Also, no matter how the mentioned option is set, you can always change the current selection mode either by clicking on the 3rd item in status bar. Alternately, you can toggle these modes by pressing Ctrl+Alt+ N(ormal), L(ine), C(olumn). Also, when using column blocks, make sure that you don't use Tabs in your text (Uncheck Real Tabs and Smart Tabs in Editor Settings) and replace all tabs with spaces. Otherwise you risk dataloss, because the editor component has a few badly written routines that can't really handle tabs well. Doing column operations then causes unexpected behaviour - and Undo function only screws things up more. In fact, when the "Alt sets column mode" is turned OFF, the behaviour is much better, because the selected mode is permament, while when that option is turned ON, having column mode preselected is useless, because the left mouse click will then automatically set selection mode to Normal. Jan, could you REMOVE this behaviour finally? The Selection mode should have priority. This option should serve as a shortcut for temporarily setting the selection mode to column (just for that one operation). (Or make it act as a toggle between Normal and Column, so holding Alt will make a Column selection in Normal mode and a Normal selection in Column mode). -- PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
