Here's a problem I've been having with document tabs: When I hit ctrl+tab or close a document, it switches to a seemingly random tab. The way I would it expect it to work, is to go to the nearest tab either to the left or to the right. For example: I have four documents open, let's call them 1-4. The currently selected document is #4. I press ctrl+tab, it switches to 1, then back to 4, then 3, then 2. Switching back to #4 is wasting my time, as it's obviously not the one I wanted, since I had it selected originally! And even going from 1 to 3 to 2 doesn't make sense to me. The way I anticipate it working is to go from 4 to 1 to 2 to 3. I imagine that it currently works by the last selected tab, but after working for ten minutes in file #4 I don't remember that the last selected tab was #2, not #1. Same goes for closing documents. I've closed many documents that I didn't want to close because of this. Maybe a configuration option for ordered tabbing would be in order? ie. if it's checked, when ctrl+tab is pressed or when a document is closed, it switches to the next tab to the right, and if there isn't one, wrapping around. And here's a problem I'm having with formatting: I like being able to specify how big a tab is, and I don't actually like using the tab character. In other editors, I can tell it that a tab should be X spaces, and to replace the tab character with X spaces. In PSPad, there doesn't seem to be an option for that. No matter what, I get a tab character instead of X space characters. And it doesn't tab at a regular rate - the first tab inserts one tab character, the second inserts *six*, the third inserts one, etc. I keep pressing tab, and then I hit backspace, and it sends me back to the first tab character. I end up pressing space ten times because at least that makes sense. Great software, I love it, but those two issues need to be addressed. -- PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
