I don't think so.  download.com is a huge and very popular site.  Enigma
was downloaded more than 10.000 times after it was reviewed by c't (one
of the largest computer magazines in Germany), so I think the number is
not that unreasonable.  It's still remarkable, though :-)

No, I don't think so.  Distribution in binary form is allowed if you
don't modify the executable.  Even if it was a violation of the GPL, I
wouldn't really mind -- it's not every day you get free publicity on
this scale :)
