Hello Carl-Valentin,
from what I read, you should be unable to start any application which needs SDL on your desktop computer? If yes, the problem is with SDL, not Enigma. First: Try to update your SDL, if possible. If this doesn't help, try to start Enigma as root for once. If Enigma runs fine with root rights, SDL's uid is set wrong. Of course: Don't play Enigma with root rights, it's better you try to repair it ;-) If this still doesn't help: Did you compile Enigma and/or SDL by yourself, or did you install it via synaptic/apt/dpkg? You might try to deinstall Enigma and/or SDL and reinstall again; there might have been an error during download or installation before. Best, Andreas Carl-Valentin Schmitt schrieb:
Hello good day ! I have debian squeeze 6.0.3 here on an older computer. On my notebook installation with squeeze 6.0.3 enigma 1.01 is working fine ! But here on the desktop computer enigma 1.01 is complaining with : Couldn't initialize SDL: Unable to open a console terminal What shall I do ? KDE, xdm and gnome are installed. I dont know why enigma is nagging here. On previous earlier debian installations, enigma was working here ... For helpful hints tuvm. Regards.
