Usually, message you compose are encrypted to the sender AND all receipients.
This may be changed in GnuPG preferences, but you should know exactly what
you're doing if you set things there:

Can you save the ascii armoured text to a file and decrypt that manually using
gpg -d /file/ > decrypted.txt ?
