I was perusing the Enigmail preferences, and I noticed an option to use
an external passphrase input method, so I enabled that option just to
see what would happen. Now, not only does it not use any other
application to accept my input passphrase, but I'm not even presented
with the native Thunderbird/Enigmail input dialog or otherwise offered a
chance to enter my passphrase, and so I'm unable to sign or decrypt any
messages!

When I try to send a test message with the "pen" (signing) icon
activated, I get an error box pop up, saying "Send operation aborted.
Error - bad passphrase!"

Okay, no big deal, I thought. I'd just go back into Enigmail's
preferences pane and disable the option I'd been experimenting with,
right? Well, it seems that that option has disappeared. I've checked all
6 tabs of the prefrences window, and I don't see any mentioning passphrases.

If anyone could help me resolve this, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks
