I wouldn't say the behavior is ideal, but knowing how Thunderbird
works, it's what I'd expect. When you expand the headers, Thunderbird
re-loads the message. That's like de-selecting the message and
re-selecting it. The message will be shown in its original form with
no verification applied.

Why is it different for encrypted messages? I assume because those are
PGP/MIME messages, while the others are inline-PGP?
