I have a query on Section 8.3.3 page 100 :

It is written that cards may be reset by using the 'resetfile', an ASCII text
file whose contents are listed on page 100.

In the gnupg-users mail list, there was some discussion about resetting cards in
a thread called "card is permanently locked" which started on November 17/2014.
Werner Koch indicated on 16th December that :

> while testing the forthcoming 2.1 cards (only minor changes) I found out
> that the old instructions on how to reset the card didn't worked always.

and he provided a corrected script :

filename "resetcard.scd"

scd reset
scd serialno undefined
scd apdu 00 A4 04 00 06 D2 76 00 01 24 01
scd apdu 00 20 00 81 08 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40

scd apdu 00 20 00 83 08 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40
scd apdu 00 20 00 83 08 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40
scd apdu 00 20 00 83 08 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40
scd apdu 00 20 00 83 08 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40
scd apdu 00 e6 00 00
scd reset
scd serialno undefined
scd apdu 00 A4 04 00 06 D2 76 00 01 24 01
scd apdu 00 44 00 00
/echo Card has been reset to factory defaults
/bye

The listing in the new handbook appears to be the "old instructions" which WK
says do not always work.
