I used to have a per-recipient rule for myself, but deleted it and I've
tried with and without it.  My gpg.conf did not exist before I added the
default-key directive.

I only have one identify for this account, and he new
key is specified in the Thunderbird -> OpenPGP Security account
settings. Enigmail is set to use convenient encryption settings.

My gpg-agent.conf says this:
###+++--- GPGConf ---+++###
default-cache-ttl 600
max-cache-ttl 6000

But the PIN still doesn't get cached...
