Enigmail 1.9.7 is still the newest
offered for update on
addons.mozilla.org
(https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/enigmail).
Enigmail
1.9.8.1 is still being reviewed by
Mozilla (this is mandatory before
being published). So, there's nothing
wrong with the built-in update
checker.
You may as well install Enigmails
newest version from the Enigmail
website :-)
