why not? performance. simple. parsing xml compared to dealing with properly laid
out binary is a performance hit - for what? nothing beyond making something
human readable. now instead we just throw more money at intel (or whoever) to
buy faster cpu's to do exactly the same thing we were doing... but now in xml!
