Alan, 

I get the same results here on RH9 and Fedora Core 1. The source 9.2 
tarball for Eterm still builds fine for me. Give that a go if you don't
require cvs features. 

It appears to be autofoo version related breakage. Not sure if there are any
plans to address these issues or not but it would be nice to have cvs
build against the autotools that ship with some of the latest distro's.

I'm clueless when it comes to autofoo stuff or I'd have already looked at
sending patches ;)
