Yes, from my knowledge the presently advocated versions of autotools are 2.13 for autoconf and 1.4 for automake. This was why Nathan and I worked so hard to resolve this issue, and in the end, it turned out to be more or less a bug in autoconf 2.13 (barfing over nested macros). That said, I have been thinking of the need to do a cleanup act on the autofoo in many of the modules to eliminate the warnings and complaints usually output by autoconf 2.5x.
