Place the following in your ~/.bashrc file

---------------------------------------
alias nautilus='nautilus --no-desktop'
---------------------------------------

and do a "source ~/.bashrc"

this is an alias to tell Nautilus not to load it's rubbish desktop when it
starts so that you get a clean file manager and nothing else. :-)

Works for me!
