What should be the next release number (I have been assuming 0.16.7.1)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only entity outside of the project that has adopted/reported 0.16.7 is Gentoo. If this is the case, I see no reason why this release can't simply be named 0.16.7 (period).
I never reported the release, and a week later I renmaed the source tarball to -fc2 (I later realized that I think you mean FC as in Fendora Core 2? I mistakenly thought this was Final Canadate, thus the fc2). I don't see anything wrong with 16.7.1, but since this release will I hope get some press that one might be hard to explain,
esp since there was no giant rollout of it.

The original enlightenment-0.16.7.tar.gz is contained in
enlightenment-0.16.7-1.fc2.src.rpm. I was assuming that either the
original tar.gz or the source RPM already have been spread somewhat
around and that we would rather explain why the release is called
0.16.7.1 than why we have released two different versions of
enlightenment-0.16.7.tar.gz.
I have no problems with stating the fact that 0.16.7 was not as solid
as it should have been and therefore 0.16.7.1 is released.
