Hey all,
I posted some time ago about the work-in-progress E17 users guide me
and Tom (gimpel) have been working on. It's complete now :) Please
see http://lude.net/edocs - it's the final version, including the
layout/screenshots etc. Currently we still have the "Unofficial" tag
of course. We've gone through the text with help from alot of people
quite many times already so it should be (fairly) error and typo
free now. If you have some spare time, please give it a scan if you
see anything that should be changed. As alread said in the previous
mail, the point of the guide is to provide user-level documentation
for E17, which would help the the early adopters, testers and
perhaps developers completely new to E17. It's meant to be a work
in progress guide that's constantly updated/maintained to be "in
sync" with everything in CVS.
In other words we're waiting for an official "ok" (and we'd also
need to know what, if anything, needs to be changed or clarified)
and perhaps it could be moved to enlightenment.org (?), once the CMS
system is up and running that is. You can also find us on IRC, our
nicks are vrln (me) and gimpel.
ok (i have finally gotten to reading this - damn all this e-mail. i
spend more than 50% of the time i could be coding doing email)!!!
anwyay. comments:
"By default only one window is used - you can add more virtual
desktops from the menu. Keybindings aren't"
by default its now 4x1 virtual desktops (not window :) ) :)
you should note that middle mouse button may change too for the
desktop - this is a temporary hack :)
also now they are .EDJ not .EET files :) (to be less ambiguous) :)
btw: themes can also be put in ~/.e/e/themes/ and if you put a
personal default.eet there it will be used instead of the system
one... but u'd have to overwrite this file to change themes. this is
also a minefield for problems - if we add features and that means
adding things to the theme and edje - things may not work if you have
a personal theme and are not FASTIDIOUS in keeping it in sync with
changes to the default theme :)
under "what are these different binary formats" you might want to
point out that ALL of them are actually eet archive files underneath
- each just containing specialised data for each purpose. .eapp files
are just edje files with extra data appended to the eet archive for
app info :)
under "I've seen some nice flame and snow effects in various E17
videos/screenshots. I can't seem to find them?" it's snow and flame
modules, not snow and temperature :)
