My guess is "probably not", but I guess a workaround at the moment would be to define the strings in the module's C code, then sendmessages to the edje using MSG_STRING?
Maybe a different solution awaits in e19 land...

there is a new version of the calendar module at:

This version adds the ability to select the 1st day of the week
and adds support for gettext.
I don't have any .po files, for other languages, (and still need to
learn what to do with them once I do). But the support is in the
code -- so send these files and I will include them.
