this is Gentoo, so everything is -devel ... but to answer your question, yes taking your hint i looked through the build and composite support was being forced disabled via --disable-composite ;x ... perhaps the menu entry shouldnt even be shown in this case ? or it should pop up a msgbox saying "enlightenment was built with composite support disabled" ? -mike
