when there is a resize - e signals an internal event for this and a module can
listen for it and "do the right thing".

you'd need to advertise an api too - from a module to another module.

you won't get transpernecy (you will need to use shaped windows), unless you
rely on composite managers. separate apps are also heavier than a module - not
much of an issue on big fat boxes, but on small lean boxes - old ones or
embedded, it's overhead that adds up quickly.
