If you talk about software, It doesn't matter if you buy a N800 or
N810. They are both completely compatible in this side. Now, there are
some differences between the devices you should be aware of:

N800:
* 2 Slots for regular SD/SDHC cards. (Imagine what you can do with
16GB cards out there)
* FM Radio

N810:
* Hardware keyboard (This is a major improvement)
* No FM Radio
* Brighter and more sensitive screen.
* 2GB internal storage.

About EFL, we (INdT) are maintaining the packages for a small subset
of libraries, which are needed for our Canola[1] project. The design
is focused on finger interaction, so you would not need to use a
stylus. On the other hand, the Mamona[2] guys are building and using
e17 as their window manager.
