Use ethumb to do that and it will automatically use ~/.thumbnails. If
you agree to use the FDO specs, then it will even cooperate with the
naming scheme, but they don't do 512x512... just 128x128 and 256x256.
Anyway, Ethumb is the way to go and if the only thing you changed is
the size, then you'll get 256x256 automatically in FDO name and the
512x512 in another folder.

As for eet, ethumb still does not provide eet output but it is in the
plans, you can help with that if you wish. We already provide video
thumbnails in .edj so it can serve as example.
