smells odd. to me it seems that xrender isnt doing 32->16bit converting with
composite on. my tests were with xephyr (nested xserver) that implments
xrender entirely in software as part of pixman, so my guess is that it possibly
is a driver bug. try xephyr in 16bpp or try x with "fbdev" (framebuffer dumb
driver) and see. (assuming u run it in 16bpp in all cases)
