This week seems like a good week to do some announce. As some of you already know, I have been working for a few years now for Freebox S.A.S. We are providing set top box for Free.fr, the second biggest French ISP. Since a few days now, we are deploying a firmware with the Enlightenment Foundation Library, including Eina to Edje, and Elixir, a JavaScript Binding.
All people having the Freebox HD v5 will be able to develop with this bindings. I don't know exactly how many set top box are running with the EFL, but it will be around 2 or 3 millions. Quite a big increase in EFL user base :-) . For the people, that want to use Elixir, we did setup a website http://elixir.freebox.fr/ and the first games written with this bindings are available under GPL at http://code.google.com/p/freebox-elixir/source/checkout . Of course for people interested in Elixir itself, development will now happen on E svn and the dev mailing list will be a perfect place to discuss about it. Our current plan is to add full network connectivity by giving all set top box an IPv6 address and use it with ecore_con and ecore_con_url. We are also planning to port Emotion and the needed bindings, but this will take some time. And of course we are planning to setup a store in a few month.
