Maybe some kind soul can > explain to me what's going on here. ) it selects what style you want for effects - like shadows, window appearing and disappearing, being focused or not etc. theme can provide as many of these as it likes. the default one is the one provided by default if nothing else matches the window popping up. the apps, e, over, menus tabs select what style to use for what windows, popups, dialogs, menus and other elements that appear on the screen. apps has a LIST of matches that for example you can match "xterm" and make it use some different style of appearing/being focused/whatever in the compositor. the E list is for E internal elements like popups, shelves etc. - these have names actually. thus match an element of name X to a style Y. (and if it is ARGB or not ARGB etc.) Over is overrid-eredirect windows - menus for example are these. as are often notifications and other things. menus are actually e's own menus. they dont have names - so you can basically just say argb menus get style X and non-argb get style Y for example. > If I select 'everything', and hit 'Apply', and then I switch desktops, > on the 2nd switch, windows disappear on the desktop I'm switching to. > They are visible while the desktops are switching, but then go > invisible.
