So what's the problem of adding "tracking" shadows? Naive I'd just add
a callback for resize and move events to the window and resize/move
the shadow element accordingly. Is this wrong?

This is also a nice Idea. The reason I came up with this though is
that if you have a shelf that is at the top, the drawn shadow just
looks unnaturaly.
