Could you try getting a backtrace with gdb ? I did see an issue on arch linux, where it was segv on first run of elsa after a boot, but second and other were all fine. I was never able to understand why it did crash. And recently without any change on elsa, it stopped crashing. My current bet is that it was an issue in the distribution itself.
