ok - hermet's code brought out an existing bug. not his fault - can_focus was
always true to begin with but the callbacks for key etc. were not ADDED then.
they were added later on setting if the widget can focus or not, and here since
it now checked the can_focus flag, it didn't add them - since it was logical
that they should already have been there. so whoever added the callback adding
code to begin with created the bug as they didnt spot that can_focus was on by
default and things should have also been added there too. :)
