yes you right, but the patch is not based on conventions.
the patch is for the proper show,hide effect and arrow direction not the
ctxpopup position.

without the patch,
  - the show and hide effect is not proper
  - the arrow direction is not proper
to resolve above issue, the patch is necessary.
