I completely agree with Gustavo about the area of what the freedom covers being different. BSD gives freedom to the developer, GPL and variants grant the right to freedom to the code. Both come with certain issues, but I strongly believe that without the GPL the whole Open/Libre Source ecosystem (and in conclusion EFL) would not exist in its current form, not even close. None of these arguments make any concrete case why the EFL should be licensed one way or the other and I personally am fine with either. It's just that I don't understand "the BSD people" (or corporations for that matter) why they have this problem with the GPL in particular. Maybe someone can enlighten me. I will also refrain from any more public answers on this topic because everyone has their Correct opinion on this.
