Thanks I've come to the conclusion it is an issue with the symlinks being created by my packages.
The structure of the tarbal must have changed during the release process. My alpha builds contain a files libecore.so.1, while the release tar produces libecore-release.so.1 - not sure why my E17 build is looking for the wrong file (it compiled without a libecore.so.1 file). Something is mucked up in my builds though.
