Yes, Elementary has the different configuration profile, but it's not solved the issues with missing widgets for desktop, I mean statusbar, combobox, or some not the right widget behavior. For example menu (drop-down/popup/main menu etc), this widget should be separate window, I refer to http://standards.freedesktop.org/wm-spec/wm-spec-latest.html#idm140146176778320
