Gadgets are not so different from panel applets come from other DE: task 
manager, mail fetcher, weather, feed, ...

I think you give their position much value it has, but not big deal, this is 
just my opinion.

Maybe if there were lots of modules, like GNOME 3 applet, maybe could be a 
"network" about this (like Gnome 3 has done).

Maybe it's just my idea, but users place gadget where they are comfortable for 
them, so they won't continue move their modules around their desktop... But 
this is just my stupid opinion :)
