If 153% is not a pavucontrol guess but a driver limit, and I think it is likely given as it has an odd value, a "boost" option could simply show/hide the slider part above 100%. Anyway, even a multipler could have sense, maybe 1.5x would be enough. Pavucontrol handles it with that slider resistance at 100% and I'm fine with it. As for dirty sound, well, I usally use earphones to listen to music and movies and in that case 100% is quite enough, but it happens even that I have to show something like a youtube video to my neighbors and laptop speakers at 100% are unuseful.
