the drm (sw) lockup is a real issue (hang in read). it literally stops e dead in
its tracks. it's pretty much a show stopper as e is non-functional entirely in
its default state (starting up with wizard).

gl drm - interestingly works for me on my laptop once i've punted through  the
other blocker issues in getting e set up in wl mode on my laptop and i switch
to gl from sw in comp settings...

of course since i can only do this at home on my laptop... nothing much is
going ot get done as i'm away from it basically until weekends.
