Having temporarily switched to the default theme it seems like this
blue actually comes from it.
Obviously either there have been added more "things" that can take
colors or at pre-e17 the default colors were just different, and
themers did not override them.

While the digits used by the clock are images, most other things look
like text to me, e.g. a toolbar or menu text?

Having studied the default theme the approach found there is quite
systematic: most things are controlled by a number of macros.
In the old theme this is not the case, and in most cases the colors
are correct, only in patricular cases they are wrong.

Hence it seems like one needs to identify those elements one by one :(
