Greetings all! I am new to the e community, having made some noise on IRC in recent weeks. I am interested in doing application development. There are a few things I would like, that seem to be missing in EFL. I created a page[1] to track wanted EFL applications, etc. Feel free to add anything you want or feel is needed to that page.
I mostly do Java, but have done C over the years, some GTK. I will be looking to do development in C, not any other language. To get my feet wet I started scratching my first itch, EFL version of GnuPG's Pinentry. Mike B/zmike did some work there. I used some of his code, but ended up with a version that was mostly my own. Mike previously submitted his version. I will be looking to work with upstream to see that either his or mine is included. I have an open ticket/task[2]. As well as repo[3] with the stuff made public, both mikes branch and my own. I also use the modifications via a patch for a Gentoo ebuild[4]. I am using my version of pinentry-efl for a few days now. Though does need some refinements as I get more familiar with EFL/ELM and C. Now that I am mostly done with pinentry-efl. I have moved on to the next itch, a text editor. Just shy of EDI function, but beyond a basic editor. I have been extending and modifying ecrire, and opened a task regarding such[5]. Depending on others interest there. Ideally I would like to see about taking that over long term. To build trust and for code review etc. I can just contribute/proxy, or something. Not sure anyone else is interested in ecrire, it is not been actively developed. Much of it seems like incomplete work in progress, in need of much love. For the time being I am pushing my modifications to a github mirror repo[6]. Those can either be pulled into the main or continue on as a fork. I rather see it pulled back into main. But that is up to others. If there is anyone to interested in such for ecrire. I am pushing tags to my repo for the Gentoo ebuilds for ecrire[7]. Once I get most of my itches with ecrire scratched. I will move onto a Network Manager gadget/module. I am thinking to call it enetman, for E Network Manager, or E Net Man. Name is pretty moot, just assuming it should likely start with E. Anyway that is all I got. For now.... :) P.S. Also interested in theme'ing etc. Very initial poking at a custom theme based on default with some tweaks and purple vs blue. I am calling that eminence, as that is a shade of purple. 1. https://phab.enlightenment.org/w/efl_apps_todo/ 2. https://dev.gnupg.org/T2905 3. https://github.com/Obsidian-StudiosInc/pinentry 4. https://github.com/Obsidian-StudiosInc/os-xtoo/tree/master/app-crypt/pinentry 5. https://phab.enlightenment.org/T5411 6. https://github.com/Obsidian-StudiosInc/ecrire 7. https://github.com/Obsidian-StudiosInc/os-xtoo/tree/master/app-editors/ecrire -- William L.
