Hello gentlemen,
after having the release burden being shared by only one or two people,
we've started talking and decided to create a team specifically for the
purpose of helping out with this process, more specifically releasing,
testing and packaging.
The idea is to congregate people who are either already actively helping as
well as people who are interested in learning/helping out with that. I've
just finished with my first attempt at spinning the tarballs and they have
already been uploaded. We're going to work in documenting everything and
coming up with a proper procedure for doing this as automatically as
possible.
For everyone interested, please join the mailing list here:

The reason to spin a new 1.7.2 release of the EFL was to have E17 building
properly again with a released version of the EFL. The idea is to do the
proper release announcement tomorrow, so everyone who can test these
tarballs**please** do so. The only packages which had changes after the
last
release are Edje, Eet, Elementary and Evas.
Hi all,
Unless you here otherwise you can presume that openSUSE, Fedora,
Mandriva and centOS will be built within a couple of days of Releases.
Where i have time i will also be happy to help out testing other
alpha/beta packages. I am also happy to help in any other way i can.
Finally thankyou for taking the initiative and setting this up I
believe it will be a great benefit to the project
Simon,
thanks a lot for the help, I'm finishing up with some stuff for the
Ubuntu PPA and then will start investigating a few options for doing
some automated tests (right now looking at Vagrant), if you (or anyone
else for that fact) has any ideas on other options please share.
Unfortunately i don't have any experience in this area , i am pretty new
to packaging and haven't used any test tools in the past I do know UI
testing is very hard though. My current testing besides running the
packages on my machines at home I have a Virtual machine for openSUSE
and i am working on setting up one for fedora. My tests generally only
include logging in then checking that terminology and econnman work and
sometimes deleting my .e directory and running back through the startup
sequence to check for crashes. If there was some sort of automated
testing i would defiantly run it and possibly help contribute to it into
the future.
Not sure you saw but another user here was having issues with the spec
for Fedora, could you please take a look if you are able to help him.
I'm not sure whether he was building the spec for himself or for a
Fedora repository though.

Unfortunately we build our fedora packages using the openSUSE spec
files. I haven't heard of the macros/vars mentioned in that spec file so
i guess im not much use. On obs you can build alot including some ubuntu
packages all off the same spec. I believe this does mean they can't be
official packages but working Unofficial packages are better then
nothing and it takes very little effort for us to build for fedora as well,
Cheers,
Simon
Best regards,
Luis Felipe
