Well, I secretly am beginning to think the same way. I'm very dissapointed in RedHat 8.0. and stimulated by your note checked into gentoo and see that its kernel is newer than that in RedHat 8.0. I've a lot of questions about gentoo, but to remain OT, let me ask: Gentoo uses gnome 2.2.0 and yet manages to be (in your view) easily compatible with e-17. How do you account for its success and Red Hat's failure in this respect? More specifically, with gentoo, does e-17 run under gnome2, or is it instead the desktop manager and know how to run gnome applets?
