One thing you can do is hack around efm's source and change the library
calls to those of the current e packages (edb, ecore etc)

This stabilises efm very much (untill i tried it i had troubles between
different setups, and i had to remove efm's configuration each time and
reinstall it)
It also results to a somewhat cleaner installation.
Still though you will encounter the "feature" problem... efm lacks
several features that noone will support. It is still very usable though
