Oh.  You should really be using the "emulate 3 button
mouse" feature of X.  It is also referred to as ChordMiddle
or something like that.  Basically, if you press both buttons
simultaneously (analagous to keys on a piano) like a chord,
it will generate an MB2 (middle mouse) button event.

And, technically, 2 notes simultaneously specify an interval,
whereas 3 notes or more simultaneoulsy represent a chord.
But, don't get me wrong, I love 2-note electric guitar power
"chords".  :)

My older Thinkpad 560 laptops have builtin 2-button, trackpoints,
and I use the above feature with no problems.

But I have just an ordinary 2 button wheel mouse; so how else can I do it?
