I guess I found what I was looking for. The author has E screenshots on it's homepage.
http://run-free.sourceforge.net/ The python scripts are not bad but the drawback is that they lack focus. i.e when they pop-up the textbox doesn't immediately get the focus. You have to manually drag your cursor on to the textbox and write. Then you can't just press enter, you have to drag your mouse and click on the launch button. With "run-free", I just pop-it up via a shortcut (set with E-conf). And: 1. It adopted my neat GTK theme.. which makes it nice compared to Tkinker. 2. It gets the focus, so I can immediately write "xfig" for e.g on the textbox and write away press Enter. If we all agree, this thing could be linked to the E homepage. And the author, Karl N.
