I have these:

/usr/lib/libltdl.so.3.1.0
/usr/lib/libltdl.so.3
/usr/lib/libltdl.a
/usr/lib/libltdl.la
/usr/lib/libltdl.so

Hmm last time I tried ATrpms, it conflicted with my actual system.

It might be. Remove the libtool and install RH/FC own libtool
packages and try again

libtool-1.5-8 provides:

/usr/lib/libltdl.a
/usr/lib/libltdl.la
/usr/lib/libltdl.so

and libtool-libs provides

/usr/lib/libltdl.so.3
/usr/lib/libltdl.so.3.1.0

rpms of imlib2. It shouldn't make a difference if it is compiled on the
same distro.

If I compiled and build an rpm out of it and you installing the rpm on
your box, then it won't make a difference between you compiling on your
own or installing my rpm. :-)
