I have seen that too, on one occasion. Haven't been able to reproduce.
I think it is a problem with some image/directory cache thing becoming
invalid in newer 0.16.7(-pre?) versions.
Try wiping out ~/.enlightenment/cached/. If that doesn't help, I think
~/.enlightenment/...e_session-XXXXXX must be removed (unfortunately
destroying parts of the configuration).
